Folio 98-99: Erasmus Gower, HMS Triumph, Portsmouth. Makes a strong character reference for Mr Tackle and asks that he be appointed Purser of HMS Triumph.
Folios 100-101: enclosure in folios 98-99. Undated letter giving various character references for Mr Tackle being appointed as Purser of HMS Triumph, being formerly Purser of HMS Minerva.
Folios 102-103: enclosure in folios 98-99. Letter March 3 1795 to the Rt Hon Earl Spencer from Rev J Tackle. Seeking employment he was permitted too exchange with Joseph Belson of HMS Minerva to HMS Triumph citing various personal reasons, he also lists the various captains under whom he has served.
