Incorporated on 11th February 1909 under Shropshire & Montgomeryshire Light Railway Order 1909 obtained by Shropshire Railways Company under Light Railways Act of 1896 for purpose of reconstruction and working of certain parts of railway and works of latter company. Shropshire and Montgomeryshire Light Railway Company passed to British Transport Commission under Transport Act 1947.
