Folios 8-9: William Ferris, Cheltenham.
He has seen notice in the Gazette that the Order of Merit and the Knight Companions of the Military Order of the Bath is to be conferred on deserving officers in the late war and he wishes to remind their Lordships of his service. He particularly mentions a letter they sent him through his Commander in Chief while he commanded HMS Diana in which they said he was a"Distinguished character"
