Description

Folios 165-166: Alexander Fraser, HMS Redpole, Harwich. Is sending letter from Captain Henderson of HMS Rosario.

Folio 167: enclosure with folios 165-166. Letter dated 13 December 1812 by Vice Admiral Thomas Foley, Monmouth Downs. John Jackson, is a prisoner of war on HMS Monmouth and should be released if has papers to show he is American and he takes an oath.

Folio 168: enclosure with folios 165-166. Letter dated 24 December 1814 by Thomas Foley, HMS Monmouth, Downs. John Jackson must apply to the Consul for documenst to prove he is an American citizen.

Folios 169-170: enclosure with folios 165-166. Letter dated 1 June 1813 by William Hendersopn, HMS Rosario, Harwich. Asks for a Courts Martial be held because John Jackson refused publically to do his duty.

Folios 171-172: enclosure with folios 165-166. Letter dated 21 December 1813 by William Henderson, HMS Rosario, Downs. John Jackson, was here as a prisoner of war and was received in 1811 as an Able Seaman. He is a man of colour who says he was born in New York but has no documents to prove it although he is willing to swear and oath.
