Description

Folios 157-158: Charles Fleming, Cumbernauld Farm. James Brine, Midshipman was not absent from HMS Assistance so the R should be removed.

Folio 159: enclosure with folios 157-158. Memorial dated 18 May 1813 by James Brine, HMS Assistance, Portsmouth. In July 1805, he was sent to remove guns from the gun wharf at Plymouth but three of the men escaped and he was so fearful of the Captain of HMS Egyptienne that he ran away too. He asks that the R be taken off as he was under the age of 14 at the time.
