Folios 214-215: Edward James Foote, HMS Sea-horse [Seahorse], Spithead. Reports that on Friday he set sail with the Mediterranean convoy from South Yarmouth, Isle of Wight, but that within 12 hours the wind changed and he was obliged to bring the convoy back through the Needles, escorting most of the ships through himself and leaving Captain Ross Donnelly in HMS Maidstone to bring the last few in after chasing away a suspicious Cutter. As the Masters of the merchant ships reported they could not anchor at either Yarmouth or Cowes at a high spring tide. the convoy returned to Spithead. Reports that the merchantmen do not pay attention to his signals and one of them collided with HMS Chichester. Another almost hit the Seahorse, but the two vessels passed each other so quickly he could not hear the name of the merchant ship when her Master called it out.
