Folios 180-181: Edward James Foote, HMS Sea-horse [Seahorse], Motherbank. In response to the letter about George Smith, points out that in his previous letter he only said that Smith was sent from HMS Auddacious, [Audacious] not that he belonged to that ship. Smith was borne on the Seahorse's books as a supernumerary for wages only, so that he believes Captain Davidge Gould was right about the rules of the service.
