Folios 150-151: Thomas Foley, HMS Elephant, Spithead. Reports that George Read's statement to the Admiralty appears to be correct, he has an aged father to support and this is the reason for his application.
Folios 152-153: enclosed with folios 150-151. Letter dated 24 March 1800 from George Read, HMS Elephant, Spithead, to the Admiralty. Reports he is a native of the Isle of Wight and has served in the Navy for the last five years. He now wishes to leave, and can supply two men to serve in his place. He also has Captain Thomas Foley's leave to apply to the Admiralty for his discharge.
