Folios 279-280: Edward James Foote, HMS Niger at Spithead. Encloses a warrant given by Sir John Jervis to Mr Banks appointing him Gunner of HMS Niger. Following Captain Troubridge's of HMS Culloden recommedation is keen to get Banks confirmed for HMS Niger. Adds that Richard Whellan has also recently made Gunner.
Folio 281: enclosure with folios 279-280. Warrant dated 18 February 1797 by Sir John Jervis, HMS Victory. Having appointing John Walsh, Gunner of HMS Niger, to HMS San Nicolas, now appoints John Banks as Acting Gunner of HMS Niger.
Folio 282: blank.
