Minute of 5th September 1845 records first meeting of Provisional Committee of projected Railway to be called Shrewsbury Wolverhampton & South Staffordshire Junction Railway Company, and prospectuses were issued accordingly. Company never seems to have functioned as such and at meeting of Registered Shareholders held on 28th January 1847, it was agreed to amalgamate with Shrewsbury & Birmingham Railway Company. Shrewsbury & Birmingham Railway Company was amalgamated with Great Western Railway Company as from 1st September 1854 under Great Western Birmingham & Chester Railways Consolidation Act 7th August 1854.
