Folios 239-240: Edward James Foote, HMS Thorn, the Nore. Reports that on 29 December [1793] he sailed from Yarmouth Road in convoy with the Aurora merchant brig, and on the 31st, had sight of Helvoetsluys. But fog meant he lost sight of the Aurora and the land, and he could not get a Dutch pilot until 3 January [1794]. Anchoring off Helvoetsluys on 4 January, extensive enquiries found that no other vessels were bound for England, so he sailed the next day and proceeded to the Nore as ordered.
