Folios 175-176: Charles FitzGerald, HMS Artois, Spithead. Acknowledges receipt of orders to receive on board arms for the use of the Irish government, and to accompany trading vessels bound west in convoy, and proceeding to Cork, to go under the command of Rear Admiral Kingsmill. He will comply as soon as the ship is paid her advance, and bounty money, and the shipwrights have completed the forecastle. He requests permission to stop in Plymouth to collect a much-needed party of Marines, and asks for a reply to his earlier question regarding 9-pounders.
