Miscellaneous books and records of the Shrewsbury Joint Station Committee
This committee was constituted by representatives of Shrewsbury and Birmingham; Shropshire Union; Shrewsbury and Hereford; and Shrewsbury and Chester Railways, and held its first meeting on 16th April 1847 to carry out building of proposed Shrewbury Station. Committee was formed as result of Resolution of Shrewsbury and Birmingham and Shropshire Union Railways Joint Committee passed at meeting held 22nd February 1847.
Functions of this committee were taken over by London and North Western and Great Western Railways Joint Committee by virtue of Resolution of this latter Committee dated 4th October 1867. London and North Western and Great Western Railways Joint Committee became London Midland and Scottish and Great Western Railways Joint Committee as from 1st January 1923 and ceased on nationalisation of railways 1st January 1948 under Transport Act 1947.
