Description

Folios 632-633: Thomas Swinnerton Dyer, HMS Driver, Portsmouth. Covering letter for the enclosed letter from William H Hamiliton, Purser of HMS Driver, soliciting his recommendation. He is in his opinion deserving of promotion.

Folios 634-635: enclosure with folios 632-633. Letter dated 31 December 1810 by William H Hamiliton, HMS Driver, Portsmouth, to Thomas Swinnerton Dyer, HMS Driver. Having served three years as Purser of HMS Driver and being by the death of his lamented friend the late Captain John Conn of HMS Swiftsure deprived of the only hope he had of getting promotion

Folios 636-637: enclosure with folios 632-633. Letter dated 13 July 1810 by John Lawrence, HMS Driver, Halifax Harbour. This is to certify that William Henry Hamiliton, Purser of HMS Driver has served and that he recommends him for promotion.
