Folios 287-288: Hugh Downman, Portsmouth.
On taking up his post he has visited all the prison ships and has found them all clean and the prisoners comfortable. He inspected the provisions at Fortin and"found it all good in its kind". The prisoners had no complaints. He wishes to know what sort of journal he should keep.
