Folios 260-261: John Erskine Douglas, HMS Bellona, Hampton Roads. Encloses a letter from Lieutenant Thomas Trimmer and states that what he says is perfectly correct. He was unable to discharge him to join HMS Cockatrice as the Bellona was under orders to sail and he had no replacement.
Folio 262: enclosure with folios 260-261. Letter dated 27 May 1807 by Lieutenant Thomas Trimmer, HMS Bellona, Chesapeake. He has heard that their Lordships are offended with him for not taking up his post on HMS Cockatrice. He wishes to inform them he was prevented from doing so as no one appeared to supercede him.
