Folios 239-240: Sir Ross Donnelly, 34 Welbeck Street, London.
Is asking their Lordships for a dispensation as he is unable to produce the books and papers they have asked for. He has been to Guildford to see relatives of Mr. Smith, late clerk and acting purser of HMS Narcissus trying to trace the documents but he is not there and might have left the country. He further explains he cannot be held responsible for their loss as he was transferred from the Narcissus to the Ardent on his arrival at the River Plate and sailed with another expedition.
