Folios 264-265: Ross Donnelly, HMS Ardent, off the Lizard. His letter is being sent by HMS Le Curieux together with a list of all the transports under his command. (not enclosed) The list was taken from one given him by Captain Harryman of HMS Unicorn. There was an error in it however. The HMS Alexander is not of his convoy but belongs to Brigadier Craufurd's expedition and that ship was left at Falmouth. He writes that given he faces a very long voyage he predicts it will probably be necessary for him to find a port so he can secure supplies of fresh water. Captain Harryman of HMS Unicorn and Captain Sherriff oif Le Curieux report that the transports are wooden bottomed foul ships and are not good sailers and scarcely fit for even a short voyage, let alone a long one, particularly as they will be sailing in the lower latitudes where there are only light winds.
