Description

Folios 262-263: Ross Donnelly, HMS Ardent off Falmouth. He announces that he arrived yesterday together with HMS Daphne and HMS Charwell only to find the 9th and 17th Dragoons had not yet arrived from Portsmouth they are expected, however, this day in convoy escorted by the sloop HMS Le Curieux. The 9th Dragoons are being embarked in coasting vessels. He has ordered Captain Sheriff of Le Curieux to take his vessel into Falmouth and to join the convoy and proceed with them under the escort of HMS Unicorn and HMS Pheasant to their destination, together with the 17th Dragoons who are just joining him from Portsmoth together with two store ships bound for the Cape of Good Hope. He attaches a list of all the vessels in the convoy (not enclosed). The wind is fair and so they will proceed with all speed.
