He has supplied Captain Maxwell with the latest private meeting signals. Captain Maxwell was also short a lieutenant and so Captain Digby has transferred one of his lieutenants, Mr Francis Charles Annesley to HMS Arab. He hopes the Admiralty approves and confirms this appointment. He confirms him to be a diligent and effective officer. Captain Digby has been detained at this anchorage longer than he had intended because he had gone to the assistance of an American ship which had been struck by light but he intends to sail on the next day.
