Folios 153-154: Stephen Thomas Digby, HMS Argo, Nore. He has joined HMS Argo and finds the eighteen pounders on the lower deck very inconvenient. He observes that he thinks after a period of firing the guns would meet. He asks for approval to substitute them with Grover's 24 pounders on common carriageswhich would be much more effective than her present configuration. Also the present arrangement is 400 pounds heavier and as the ship, as presently arranged, floats with the lower ports only 3 feet 5 inches above the waterline he thinks it would be an improvement.
