Folios 604-605: John Thomas Duckworth, HMS Leviathan, Ushant bearing NNE ½ E 7 leagues. Since his last report on the enemy sent in with HMS Pique, he has remained between Ushant and Brest to make sure no large fleet could escape unnoticed. It was not until yesterday that the weather allowed a further reconnaissance of the port, and he found the situation as last reported with the exception of small squadron, consisting of one ship of the line, four frigates and a lugger lying in Berthaume Bay. One vessel was sighted in the Passage du Raz, which HMS Melpomene and HMS Anson chased, and she proved to be a Danish vessel from Bordeaux with a cargo of wine, cleared for Altona but heading direct to Brest, and she has been sent in. Commander James O'Bryen of HMS Childers ran on shore a small vessel loaded with cordage, some of which the French recovered before she could be burnt.
