Folios 538-539: William O'Bryen Drury, HMS Powerful, Plymouth. Reports his arrival, encloses [no longer present] despatches from Admiral Lord Bridport and list of defects of his ship. She is in a poor state, asks for her to be examined carefully. Reports that he reported the Powerful ready for sea to Vice Admiral Robert Brice Kingsmill 24 hours after she anchored in Cork Harbour. He could have sailed three days sooner if he had been given orders and the squadron of frigates he had been promised. No blame should attach to his crew, who made every effort to get the ship ready for sea again after a spell of bad weather.
