Folios 512-513: John Drew, HMS Cerberus, the Hamoaze. Acknowledges the letter asking about the character of Carpenter John Dyer. Dyer is in fact the Carpenter's Mate, and does not deserve promotion because he is lazy and often drunk. The Carpenter is Mr Harris, who is sober, attentive and diligent and does deserve promotion.
