Folios 505-506: William O'B Drury, HMS Powerful, Margate Roads. He has arrived at the Downs as ordered by Admiral McBride, received from HMS Ramilles which joined Captain Savage off Lowestoft. Captain Savage is returning to his station with HMS Ramilles. In a collision with HMS Powerful, HMS Garland lost her bowsprit in an attempt to avoid HMS Albion. Between Longsand and the Galloper, the ship struck a shoal, which was not marked on the charts. He has sent the course from Aldeborough Nape with soundings to the Navy Board and Trinity House as the Pilots are not aware of any bank. If it were the Kentish Knock, it is wrongly shown on the charts. HMS Powerul is in need of docking to be inspected for damage caused by this incident and previously running aground when being pilotted from the Downs to Gunfleet.
