Folios 170-171: Archibald Dickson, HMS Colossus, Spithead. He is sending letters from Lieutenant Lynne and a Surgeon. Lieutenant Lynne a has been unwell for a a while and can hardly walk. He needs some months rest onshore.
Folios 172-173: enclosure with folios 170-171 dated 23 October 1796 from Lieutenant H. Lynne, HMS Colossus to Captain Dickson, HMS Colossus. He suffers from rheumatoid gout in his wrists and ankles and is unfit to perform his duties. He asks for an Officer to be appointed to supercede him.
Folio 174: enclosure with folios 170-171 dated 23 October 1796 from M [Legal?], Surgeon. He certifies that Lieutenant Henry Lynne, HMS Colossus suffers from rheumatic gouty affection and should not proceed to sea, He has advised him to go to the country to recover.
