Description

Folios 101-102: Messrs Clementson and Dinton, Clements Inn. They have applied for the pay of the late Captain Lucius Henry Dawson for the time he was Acting Captain of HMS Santa Margarita and enclose Captain Martin's certificate. They are enlosing a letter from Admiral Colpoys confirming the it was he who authorised Captain Dawson to act.

Folio 103: enclosure with folios 101-102 dated 15 February 1796 from Vice Admiral John Colpoys, 57 Lower Brook Street, to Messrs Clementson, Clements Inn. He confirms that he appointed Lieutenant Lucius Dawson, of HMS London, as Acting Captain of HMS Santa Margarita as her Captain had not joined her.
