Folios 463-464: Captain James Douglas, HMS Saturn, St Fiorenzo Bay, Corsica. Sends letter with David Lysle, Carpenter, HMS Argo. He was in her when he commanded her in the last war. Been HMS Argo’s Carpenter for sixteen years. Clever in his profession, has a wife with a large family. Recommends him for promotion to a larger ship.
Folios 465-466: enclosed in folios 463-464. Memorial David Lysle, Carpenter, HMS Argo. Began service in 1776. Seventeen years a Warrant Officer. Was cast away on the America coast on HMS Somerset where he lost everything. Twice captured by the enemy, HMS Elephant, Captain Long then HMS Argo. Petitions to be moved to a larger ship.
Folio 466A: enclosed in folios 465-466. Captain Richard Rundle Burgess, HMS Argo, Sheerness, 28 October 1795. Certificate, David Lysle, Carpenter, HMS Argo from 4 January 1795 to date. Diligent, sober and worthy of promotion.
