Description

Folios 450-451: James Douglas, HMS Saturn, Portsmouth. Sends enclosed letter and certificate given him by Mr Killwick, First Lieutenant, HMS Saturn who wishes to get his son into the Academy at Portsmouth as he hears there’s a vacancy.

Folio 452: enclosed in folios 450-451. Baptism Certificate, Register of Southwold, Suffolk, John Killwich, son of Edward and Mary Kilwick, baptized 1 April 1784. Signed Andrew Callage, Curate.

Folios 453-454: enclosed in folios 450-451. George Frederick Dote, Schoolmaster, Grange Academy, Bowes, Yorkshire, 20 April 1795. Recognizes his son going to Portsmouth will be for his promotion, is sorry to part with him. Recommendation letter and Certificate of Advanced Arithmetic for John Killwich, son of Edward Killwich of Southwold Suffolk learned under his tutelage.
