Folios 143-144: Maurice Delgarno, HMS Leander, Portsmouth. In reply to letter of 8 June is sending a letter from Lieutenant Stephen Rains explaining his reasons for not joining HMS Leander.
Folios 145-146: enclosed in folios 143-144. Letter dated 18 May 1795 by Lieutenant Stephen Rains, Deptford. Has this instant received his letter asking why he’s not joined HMS Leander. Replies he has been the Agent for the Transports at Deptford for the past nine months. He received notice of his appointment to HMS Leander 7 May but their Lordships being reminded of his situation immediately directed him to continue in his present employment.
