Folios 581-582: Philip Charles Calderwood Henderson Durham, HMS Hind, Spithead. Reporting that the American ship President has arrived from Brest which she left 12 August 1794. She brings intelligence on French ship building and the capture of a convoy by English men of war. There are 2 English sloops of war carried into Brest, one being L'Espion. Other ships were the King George Packet, Lisbon packet homeward bound with a considerable amount of money on board; the Tuscan a large sloop from Hull bound up the Mediterranean and several other vessels bound to Liverpool and Bristol. Reporting that Robespierre the elder has been guilotined with three others of the Convention. There was no massacre in Paris but on 10 August there was a Grand Fete when Robespierre was burnt in effigy.
