Description

Folios 210-211: John Draper, HMS Weymouth, Rio de Janeiro. Reports leaving Spithead on 1 February 1805, with five East India Ships under convoy: Wexford, Addington, Royal George, Bombay Castle and Abergavenny. They passed through the Needles later that day with the Wexford being some distance astern. The Master of the Aurora, informed him that he East India Ships had decided to sail without convoy. Provides a copy of the general instructions he gave to the Commanders of the East India Ships, along with a signal book, in addition to the printed instructions and signals for ships under convoy. Explains that he has now pulled into Port as there was only forty tons of water on board.

Folios 212-213: enclosure with folios 210-211. John Draper, HMS Weymouth. Intelligence report outlining the activity on 1 and 2 June 1805. Provides information obtained from Master of the Helena Henry Adriantz, on the vessels and sail he had seen on his trip from Batavia and Master John Sheppard on the Olive Branch bound from Boston to India , and the vessels he had encountered on his journey. Also provides intelligence from William Lewis, Mate of the Susanah American Ship, on the French Fleet and their Port of Rendezvous.

Folios 214-215: enclosure with folios 210-211. General instructions, for the conduct of the convoy under HMS Weymouth.
