Folios 175-176: Archibald Duff, HMS Megaera, off Dieppe. Response to a request to state the case of Mark Bailey, who was impressed onto his ship. Reports he was taken from a smuggling cutter, which when chased by HMS Rattler and HMS Megaera, ditched her cargo of spirits overboard. He admits to being the navigator on board this cutter. Two passengers on board were discharged.
Folios 177-178: enclosure with folios 175-176. Undated letter by Mark Bailey, by I Thackoray, 53 Lower Thames Street, [London] to the Admiralty, Request for the discharge of his son Mark Bailey, who was impressed by Archibald Duff, HMS Megaera. States that at this time he was a passenger on board the Mary Cutter returning from Guernsey. He is Master of the Lord Duncan Cutter, which was refitting during his absence and is also a Sea Fencible in Hastings.
