Folios 165-166: George Duff, HMS Mars, off Cadiz. Encloses a letter from a Scotch cousin for their consideration.
Folios 167-168: enclosure with folios 165-166. Letter dated 20 May 1805 by William Duff, late Sergeant 44th Regiment, Aberdeen to George Duff, HMS Mars, Plymouth. States he is a distant relative of his father James Duff. Requests that the circumstances relating to William Duff, aged 13, who was impressed at Portsmouth in October 1805, be laid before the Admiralty and asks for his discharge, or failing that to be taken under his command. He was an apprentice bound to Alexander Cheyne of Aberdeen.
