Folios 285-286: Manley Dixon, HMS Genereux, Port Mahon.
Reports that Captain Robert Campbell of HMS Santa Teresa arrived from the station off Toulon and describes having seen several vessels in the roads on 19 March 1801. HMS Minerva and HMS Pearl are watching them while HMS Salamine is sailing with dispatches to the chief in the Levant. HMS Seahorse with store ships will sail the next day while HMS Serapis remains in the port.
Reports that a prize of HMS Minerva has arrived and the French master says that his was one of 4 merchant ships carrying provisions for a squadron headed for Egypt when a gale struck and the vessels were dispersed. HMS Salamine under Thomas Briggs has been sent with the news to Admiral Lord Keith off Alexandria, HMS Seahorse under Captain Edward James Foote will stay at Port Mahon while HMS Phoebe will carry on. HMS Caroline is ordered to proceed to Toulon to discover the state of the enemy ships.
