Description

Folios 192-193: Billy Douglas, HMS Sandwich, [Chatham]. Covering letter for the enclosed letter from The Reverend Mr W B Harrison. I understand that my order respecting HMS Vryheid has been received at the Navy Board.

Folios 194-195: enclosure with folios 192-193. W B Harrison, Gillingham. To Captain Billy Douglas, HMS Sandwich. Dated 28 April 1799. In consequence of the letter you received some time ago from the Admiralty to grant me the fourpences of HMS Vryheid Prison Ship. I applied to the pay office for payment but was informed that they had not received an order from the Navy Board. Please could you rectify.

Folio 196: enclosure with folios 192-193. Weekly Report of Prisoners of War at Chatham. Dated 2 June 1799. [Total of 2614 Prisoners on HMS Sandwich, HMS Eagle, HMS Victory, HMS Vryheid, HMS Hero and HMS Bristol].

Folio 197: enclosure with folios 192-193. Weekly Journal of the proceedings of Captain [Billy] Douglas Superintendent of Prisons at Chatham. [List for the week ending Saturday 2 June 1799] [Mentions:-] HMS Hero, HMS Vryheid, HMS Boston, HMS Victory, mentions the Dutch prisoners on HMS Sandwich and HMS Eagle being much disturbed.
