Description

Folios 137-138: John Dilkes, HMS Madras, at Sea [Position given]. Informs that the day after he sailed from Portsmouth, a ship running up within hail of him, found her to be the Walker bound for New South Wales, and laden with Government Stores. The Master had been on board of him at Spithead to ask for Instructions, which he refused not having been orders for it, but finding the ship in that situation hr thought it best to attach him to the convoy. The wind continuing fair and the convoy well together, by his keeping the Aurora in tow.
