Folios 554-555: John Erskine Douglas, HMS Boston, Cawsand Bay. Reports his arrival. Following directions from Captain Barlow he is enclosing a copy of his order of 20 [August 1798] and a journal of his proceedings from 7 to 10 [August 1798[ when he joined Captain Barlow and a report of the ship's defects.
Folio 556: enclosure with folios 554-555. Copy of order dated 20 August 1798 from Captain Robert Barlow, HMS Phoebe, off Guernsey, to John Erskine Douglas, Captain of HMS Boston. Directs him to proceed either to Portsmouth or Plymouth to complete his ship's stores and plosions and then to rejoin him as soon as possible.
