Folios 542-543: John Erskine Douglas, HMS Boston, Hamoaze. Admiral Sir Richard King informed him that he had been directed to tell him he might have seen by the books of HMS Garland the number of men that Captain Searle took with him into HMS Garland from HMS Cormorant and it was his duty under his orders from Sir Peter Parker to have discharged a similar number into HMS Cormorant from HMS Boston. He is not aware of any breach of duty and is concerned to have incurred their Lordships' censure. During a service of 25 years his conduct has never given cause for reprimand. He hopes the enclosed affidavit [not now enclosed] will remove any unfavourable impression and convince them of the impossibili8ty of his ever having been guilty of any error or intentional disobedience to Sir Peter Parker's orders. he left HMS Garland on 9 January [1987] and was never on board afterwards.
