Folios 490-492: Henry Folkes Edgell, HMS Piemontaise, Channel. Informs Admiralty of his arrival that day in the Channel with HMS Akbar and Dromedary Store Ship and fleet under convoy as per enclosed list. In accordance with Orders from Commodore Broughton sailed from Bombay on 19 January with Commissioner Dundas and family on board for Colombo and Point de Galle also to take charge of any of the Honorable Company's ships that might be at those anchorages bound for England. The cinnamon ships having completed their cargoes on the 1st March. Put to sea that day with HMS Store Ship Dromedary and Honorable company ships, Hugh Inglis and Preston and arrived at St Helena on 4 May. Should have sailed on 10 May had not an application had been made by Governor in Council to wait until 12th to give greater chance for one of the Divisions arriving from India in order to equalise the force for their better protection. As considered this essential complied with wishes of St Helena Government. Confirms HMS Akbar arrived with the whole of her convoy on 11 May and the Phaeton on 12th with the extra ships from Bengal. Considered it his duty to take Akbar and her convoy under his Orders and put to sea on 17th, the Phaeton and her convoy to follow as soon as convoy completed their water. The day before departure the Honourable Company's ship Walmer Castle arrived from China and joined convoy. Since 8 July three ships from Jamaica who parted company with HMS Thalia and two ships from Demarara.
