Folios 440-441: John Evans, HMS Martin, Downs. Replying to Admiralty Order of 20 February 1812 states the case of George Hannaford, late Midshipman on the Martin. He was sent on shore at Harwich on duty last September and has not returned. He was always treated with the greatest attention and respect by himself and the officers. When absenting himself he enticed four boys to go with him, one having returned. Confirms never received letter from Mrs Hannaford.
