Folios 410-411: Thomas Eyles, 41 Norfolk Street, Strand. On 20 December 1811 had honour of addressing memorial to HRH the Prince Regent in Council, praying that he might receive some compensation for injury sustained whilst in service as certified by the report of the Royal College of Surgeons. Long letter saying that compensation for all ranks which was given for injuries in battle should also be given for injuries caused by the elements. Was told there was no precedent for paying for"hurt" received other than in battle but it seems this was not the case in relation to Captain Sotheron. Requests written answer as much for his family as himself after 29 years of service, which added to his infirmities but not fortune.
Folio 412: enclosure with folios 410-411. Letter dated 2 January 1812 by Thomas Eyles, 41 Norfolk Street, Strand. Requests that the enclosed letter is placed before the Lords Commissioners of the Admiralty.
