Sailed from Portsmouth on 23 May and arrived in Quebec on 30 June. HMS Owen Glendower was at the port. On 13 July received order from Captain Selby to investigate the conduct of his pilot at and before the Trinity Board [?]. Where the vessel had touched the ground was not known to the oldest pilots nor within a mile of any dangers. He was consequently acquitted. Another of HM frigates had also slightly touched. Sir James Cray, the Governor in Chief immediately ordered Mr Lambly to investigate and survey the shoal of the Glendower.

In accordance with orders on 10 August sailed with a convoy of 60 vessels for England. Gave instructions and protections for those bound north until 50 leagues east of the great Bank of Newfoundland. the other bound to the Bristol Channel into soundings [?]. Between 10 July, the sailing of the Glendower, and the 10 August, nearly one hundred sail, some of them on Government account with spars, left Quebec without convoy notwithstanding public notices stuck up at the Customs House the date of the Glendower's sailing. Coming through St Pauls and Cape Bay on 19 August boarded one of HMS Grasshoppers convoy but did not see her. The master stated he was the most advanced. Saw many vessels supposed to belong to that fleet for two days after.
