V W Tomkins late of HMS Hercule and now Midshipman of HMS Defence applied on 11 December 1806 without his knowledge for permission to serve in a warm climate; he has since made application to Admiral Bartholomew Samuel Rowley for his discharge into HMS Royal William or HMS Gladiator.
