Folios 279-280: William Edge, Sea Fencibles, Ipswich. Stephen Glading is in goal following his assault on a Customs House Officer while he was smuggling. William Edge says that he would be a very useful recruit for the navy as he is familiar with the coast of Holland and parts of France. he also recommends Thomas Keble who is in prison for a trifling offence as being suitable and willing for enlistment.
Folios 281-282: enclosed with folios 279-280. Letter dated 2 September 1803 by Stephen Glading, Ipswich. He is in prison at Ipswich for assaulting an Officer of the Customs. He says that he is willing to serve the Navy in any capacity.
