Description

Folios 227-228: Thomas Elphinstone, HMS Diamond, Spithead. He reports his arrival from Lyminton with HMS Hemene. He encloses a copy of his orders from Captain John Ferrier, HMS Fortunie. HMS Diamond ran aground going into the Texel due to the inexperience of the North Sea Pilots.

Folio 229: enclosed with folios 227-228. Orders dated 20 September 1802 to Thomas Elphinstone, HMS Diamond, from John Ferrier, HMS Fortunie.
