Description

Folios 267-268: Sampson Edwards, HMS Saint George, Cawsand Bay. Reports that Me George Woolfe has received Acting orders from Right Honourable Lord Bridport, Commander in Chief of the Channel Fleet, to act as Schoolmaster on HMS Saint George. Captain Edwards has been informed by Commissioner Fanshaw that if this was sent to The Admiralty, he would be granted a regular warrant. He therefore returns the enclosure and requests the same.

Folios 269-270: enclosure with folios 267-268. Orders dated 11 October 1799 by Lord Bridport, Admiral and Commander in Chief, on board HMS Royal George, Torbay, for George Woolfe to be acting Schoolmaster on board HMS Saint George, until he has passed the usual examination.
