Folios 256-257: Henry Folkes Edgell, HMS Pluto, St John's, Newfoundland. Encloses Rear Admiral Pole's order to Mr Thomas Stokes, appointing him Acting Carpenter to HMS Pluto in place of Mr Daniel Mills, who has been relieved of his post due to incapacity. Mr Stokes' good conduct in HMS Agincourt, and since joining HMS Pluto, leads Captain Edgell to recommend him for a warrant.
Folios 258-259: enclosure with folios 256-257. Copy of orders dated 3 September 1800 from Rear Admiral Charles Morice Pole, Commander in Chief of squadrons employed on and about Newfoundland, appointing Thomas Stokes, Carpenters Mate of HMS Agincourt, to be Acting Carpenter on HMS Pluto.
