Folios 250-251: Thomas Dundas, late HMS Vengeur, London. Confirming that Edward Godebye obtained leave of absence from 1st Lieutenant when he was absent from the ship on Admiralty leave. Because he did not return in due time not state the reason he was chequesd and 'R' on the books of HMS Vengeur. He supports the testimony in the enclosed. Folio 252: enclosure with folios 250-251. Letter dated 4 March 1814 by the Admiralty Office to Midshipman Edward Godebye, 2 Marsham Street, Westminster. Having laid before the Admiralty youre memorial of 16 [?] praying the 'R' standing against your name on the bookds of HMS Vengeur, I have to refer you to your late captain.
