Description

Folios 231-232: John Davie, HMS Leyden, at Sea. Covering letter for the enclosed letter from Major General Campbell, Commanding the Jamaican Islands, and that as per his request he received on board Captain Fritz, he embarked at Zante on 23 June 1813 and was sent on board HMS Swallow, Captain Edward Reynolds Sibley, on 17 July 1813 at Ponza by order of Captain George Dundas of HMS Edinburgh, to be conveyed with his dispatches to His Excellency Lord William Bentinck. Requests the remuneration of his expenses.

Folio 233: enclosure with folios 231-232. Letter dated 23 June 1813 by Major General Campbell, Zante, to John Davie, HMS Leyden. Is informed that Captain Fritze a"German Officer" who is confidentially employed by His Excellency Lord William Bentinck, for a passage without any loss of time with his dispatches.
